The inspiration for the Floating Garden came from a desire to integrate plants into a small, modern loft without compromising its minimalist aesthetic. Gabriella Asztalos, the designer, wanted to create something original and unique that would seamlessly blend with contemporary interiors. By hanging the flowerpots from the ceiling with thin stainless steel strings, the vases appear to be floating in the air, creating a captivating 3D effect.
What sets the Floating Garden apart is its combination of functionality and aesthetics. These hanging flowerpots not only serve as planters but also act as contemporary decorative items. The feminine shapes of the vases are balanced by the use of masculine materials, resulting in a minimalistic design that complements any modern interior.
The Floating Garden is not limited to indoor use. The vases are made of aluminum and coated with a special weather and water-resistant lacquer, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings. This versatility allows individuals to create their own floating green oasis, whether it be in a living room or on a balcony.
With five different sizes available, ranging from 100mm x 150mm to 160mm x 280mm, the Floating Garden offers options for various plant sizes and arrangements. Whether you want to display a single flower or create a lush hanging garden, these flowerpots provide the perfect platform.
Functionally, the Floating Garden operates like any ordinary flower pot. It can accommodate a variety of plants, and its evaporating system ensures that the plants always have access to water. In case of over-watering, any excess water is eliminated through the evaporating pipe.
Installing the Floating Garden is a breeze. The flowerpots can be hung anywhere using the detachable hook at the end of the metal string. Alternatively, they can be directly screwed onto the ceiling using the detachable double-ending screw provided. Both options offer secure and flexible hanging solutions.
The Floating Garden project was initiated in April 2011 in Barcelona and completed in August 2011. It has since been exhibited at Maison&Objet in Paris in September 2012, gaining recognition for its innovative design.
Winner of the prestigious A' Furniture Design Award in 2013, the Floating Garden has been celebrated for its outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. This design showcases a remarkable level of excellence, introducing a sense of wonder and amazement to any space.
